FORKS URBAN FARMERY

The Forks Urban Farmery, operated by and at Stable Days Youth Ranch,  is a wellness and agriculture based learning center located 4 miles from  downtown Grand Forks.  This facility, enjoys nearly one half of a  mile of shoreline property, and  features nature trails,  a developing orchard, gardens, a large indoor grow room, a greenhouse, designated paddock and pasture areas,  horses, cows, sheep, goats, a chicken coop and an apiary.  The ranches unique setup demonstrates growing and producing options for small acreage farms all the way down to container gardens and  closest sized grow rooms.  

The Forks Urban Farmery currently works in tandem with the Town Square Farmer's Market to bring our community the Forks Well Fed Program, The Forks Mobile Farmer's Market, The Share Garden, and the Farmer's Market Kids Club.

Urban farming training and support workshops and classes. We will  host workshop and classes to train new and expanding small scale traditional and  urban farmers  in safe and productive techniques and support them through business planning, marketing and selling.  We have collaborated with local universities, extension and government agencies to bring a collegiate level educational experience framed in an active, hands-on environment.    

Greater Grand Forks Local Food Youth Advocacy Program addressing issues of local food policies, food insecurity, nutritional diseases, healthy foods, food access concerns, and local food producers support.  The youth will receive training on local food systems, community organizing, policy advocacy, and strategic communications skills, and them be given an opportunity to engage with their schools and communities working on the issues and campaigns they care most about.  
Participants will be asked to research their issue, organize a campus or community event on their issue, and write an impact report, newsletter story or other written communication on their issue.
